The hospital is presently divided into four neurosurgical units, in which Ward One is mainly for functional neurosurgery; Ward Two for the treatment of skull base tumors; Ward Three for the treatment of craniopharyngioma, cerebral vascular diseases and spinal cord diseases.  Every ward has neurosurgical characteristics of their own.  Ward One for cerebrotomy for the treatment of refractory epilepsy, the treatment of Parkinson's disease and stereotaxic surgery; Ward Two for facial nerve protection in the resection of giant acoustic neuroma and complete resection of tumors in the petroclius; Ward Three leads the world for complete resections of craniopharyngioma and Ward Four is mainly for emergency cases.

The hospital is equipped with advanced neurobiology and microneurosurgical anatomy laboratories.  It is the training center of the Ministry of Health P.R.C, for neurosurgical resident doctor, and the third neurosurgical department of Capital University of Medical Sciences.  The hospital is also responsible for research projects funded by the National Natural Science Fund and the Beijing Natural Science Fund, cultivating neurosurgical doctors and masters,  providing research help with neuroscience difficulties in clinical practice and providing research for postdoctoral personnel.
